Royal Family News: Why Was Queen Elizabeth Just Flown Out Of Windsor Castle?

British royal family news shows that Queen Elizabeth was hospitalized last week and upon discharge ordered by doctors to avoid public duties for at least two weeks. Now comes word that she has been flown by helicopter from Windsor Castle to her Sandringham estate. The 95-year old monarch made the trip on Thursday, according to The Telegraph.

The exact nature of her health scare has not been disclosed and palace aides were chastised after they did not immediately disclose the concerning news. As part of her required rest period she was forced to skip this week’s COP26 Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. Nonetheless, doctors have now given the ok for her to leave Windsor and travel to Scotland, albeit for pleasure not business.

Sandringham is roughly 100 miles north of London. It is the site of the family’s traditional Christmas festivities and she was there this summer as well. Typically the family exchange gifts at Sandringham House on Christmas Eve then go to church at St. Mary Magdalene Church the next morning.

Her Majesty was admitted for an overnight stay at a hospital on October 20. Buckingham Palace later announced that the queen was advised by doctors to rest for at least the next two weeks. She was pictured prior to this using a cane, and reportedly has been advised to stop her nightly martini as well as horse riding.

The palace stated she is allowed to perform, “light, desk-based duties.” Last Friday she did just that in a video call for The Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry. On Monday she caused a bit of a stir when she was seen driving herself around the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The queen addressed attendees at COP26 via video. During her talk she honored her late husband Prince Philip’s advocacy for the environment.

She went on to say, “I could not be more proud of them.” According to the palace Her Majesty will be present for the National Service of Remembrance on Remembrance Sunday, on 14th November, an event near and dear to her heart.
