According to one royal expert, her presence is up in the air following a series of health issues and cancelled royal events. A guestlist has not been released but the senior royals are expected to attend, including the Prince of Wales and Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Princess Royal and husband Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.
Philip’s other grandchildren are likely to be there including Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, Zara Tindall and her husband Mike and Peter Philips.
Royal Family News – Will Queen Elizabeth Be In Attendance?
The children of the Queen’s late sister Princess Margaret, the Earl of Snowdon and Lady Sarah Chatto and her husband David Chatto, may also attend.
Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, died in April of last year. The funeral guest list was severely limited due to pandemic rules that allowed just 30 people to attend. Thus a memorial will be held March 29 to provide friends and dignitaries to honor the man who stood by the queen’s side for 73 years.
Royalty Will Honor Royalty
But while royals including the Kings and Queens of The Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium and Spain are have announced they are attending, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth may not be able to do the same.
Royal watcher Russell Myers told The Royal Beat, “You have to be realistic. [She is] just weeks away from 96, she has accepted her own limitations. She’s having issues moving around, [and is] described by people at the Palace as having good days and less good days….”
Royal Family News – The Queen Is Human After All
He added, “I don’t think we’ll ever see her step back, but we probably will see her less and less. Will she make Prince Philip’s memorial service in a few days? That’s in the balance.”
Elsewhere, royal writer Alan Jones stated, “The Queen obviously wanted to be at the Commonwealth Service… but she’s got mobility issues. The word we’ve been guided to use is the Queen’s comfort [is the priority].”
