British royal family news reveals that the First Minister of Scotland took a dim view of Cambridge’s whistlestop tour of the country last year. It was to recognize essential workers and all they do, but Nicola Sturgeon, who wants Scotland to break away from the UK had a frowny face the entire time.

William is the Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, and this trip had high significance seeing as how he will one day be King. Many are watching the trip to see how he does, although there was never cause to worry. William has shown time and again that he is both suited to his role and dedicated to it.

William has been playing his most senior role to date this week in residence at Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s official Scottish residence. According to constitutional expert Alastair Bruce William, he is laying the foundation for the monarchy’s future in Scotland.

“Scotland holds deep importance to this heir and being Lord High Commissioner will only increase his understanding of the unique traditions that peg Scotland as unique, significant, and ancient,” he told Vanity Fair.

The Duke’s addresses to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland were the most important engagements of the week. He spoke of his connection to Scotland which he said, “will forever run deep. Scotland is incredibly important to me and will always have a special place in my heart,” he said in Edinburgh at the opening ceremony of the Assembly on Saturday.

Alastair Bruce William said, “William demonstrated in his speech that he understands the constitutional importance of The Queen’s promise to protect the Church’s privileges. Succession may be automatic, but a new monarch has to make a promise to uphold the privileges of the Church of Scotland. By referencing it, William showed that he understands the constitution.”
