An insider told Us Weekly, “The Cambridges are spending Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham. It’s going to be a big family affair. George, Charlotte and Louis are absolutely delighted to be seeing their great grandmother in person again.”
Royal Family News – The Royal Family Is Celebrating A Long Year
In 2020 holiday planning around the world took a nosedive due to the coronavirus pandemic. Last year Queen Elizabeth’s celebrations at Sandringham and at Buckingham Palace were canceled.
A Palace spokesperson said at the time, “Having considered all the appropriate advice, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh have decided that this year they will spend Christmas quietly in Windsor.” Prince Philip died in April of this year at Windsor Castle at the age of 99.
Royal Family News – The Queen Will Celebrate This Year
The insider said that the queen, “will be joined by Prince William and Duchess Kate, who share Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3. Their children have ‘spent hours picking out their own festive gifts for [the queen], and Charlotte and George made her paintings of The Christmas Story in art class at school.’”
“[William and Kate] are looking forward to starting fresh in the New Year. We’ll be seeing a transition of responsibility — they’re taking on additional charity work, attending more events and making appearances. There’s even a royal tour in the works, and of course they’re heavily involved in the Platinum Jubilee.”
Royal Family News – The Platinum Jubilee Is Coming
The Platinum Jubilee is set for 2022 and celebrates the queen’s seven decades on the throne. It will be bittersweet due to the absence of her loyal husband by her side. The pair were married for 73 years and she referred to him as her “rock.”
But the event will propel the royals into the new year with something special on the horizon to look forward to.
