Royal Misunderstanding: So Meghan And Harry DIDN’T Want Privacy?

Harry And Meghan After all the trouble Prince Harry and Meghan Markle went to in order to leave The Firm due to their reported need for “privacy,” some are claiming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t really mean it. For those who don’t recall, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle both repeatedly stated on multiple occasions and through tons of different media that they were stepping back from their duties as senior members of the British Royal Family that privacy was an issue of paramount importance.

Indeed, Forbes put out an article specifically on the fact that Harry and Meghan demanded complete privacy for Prince Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s baptism. The BBC went on record saying that Prince Harry and Meghan issued legal warnings about their privacy only a few hours after they arrived in Canada following “Megxit.” One can actually fill pages and pages with examples of Meghan and Harry crying about their need for privacy.

However, a royal expert has come forward in an interview and is now suggesting that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were misunderstood. Victoria Murphy, writing for Town and Country Magazine offered the theory that: “'[Harry and Meghan] have stepped back not in search of a totally private life but for a different kind of public life, a public life where they can have more control over who gets access to them and what they spend their time on.’”

Oh really? Do Prince Harry and Meghan need more control over who has access to them? Like … normal, everyday people aren’t good enough for Harry and Meghan, their former His and Her Royal Highnesses? (Everyone should pay attention to that word … “Former” …) How is it that Prince William and Kate Middleton don’t seem to have this issue? How is it that Kate and William seem to be vastly more humble than the Duke and Duchess of Sussex?

Now, if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had argued that they want to step back from Royal life in order to pursue their own passions, their own interests, their own entrepreneurial or non-profit endeavors … and had simply been honest about that fact … legions of regular folks would be on their side. No one likes to be controlled or told what to do with one’s life, and if Harry and Meghan had made that their central argument, Americans especially would have applauded them.

However, to whine ad nauseum about the need for privacy, only to have a “royal expert” opine about how what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle really wanted was more control over who gets access to them … well … that rather sounds as if the pair consider themselves the ones who really should be headed for the throne. It says that both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have an overinflated sense of self-importance. Indeed, the implied arrogance of it all puts both Prince Harry and Meghan in an extremely bad light. (Not that Harry or Meghan have been in especially the best light since leaving the U.K., to begin with.)

The bottom line here is that the “royal expert” is likely correct. Despite demanding more privacy, everyone knows that since Prince Harry and Meghan arrived in Los Angeles they’ve done nothing but push themselves and the narrative they want to present … non-stop.

Harry and Meghan were both being stifled by the media and both families. The Royal experts coverage has been baffling. Every human being deserves respect and a right to basic happiness. They unfortunately have been misunderstood.
