Royal Sources Reveals Public Won’t See Queen Out & About On Official Business

QueenAfter missing Remembrance Sunday on November 14, it’s been reported that the Queen has cancelled the rest of her official engagements for this year.

Remembrance Sunday would have marked the first time that Her Majesty attended an official function in almost a month, but a back sprain caused her to miss the ceremony that she previously firmly intended to attend.

However, she will continue carrying out light duties from Windsor Castle as she fully recovers.

Queen’s Health Issues Deemed “Serious” After She Missed Remembrance Sunday

There’s been a lot of panic lately concerning the Queen’s health, and while the Palace released a statement to say that the back sprain is completely unrelated to her doctors’ advice for her to rest, it hasn’t stopped a few people in attendance at Cenotaph to voice their concern over the Queen missing the ceremony honoring the country’s service people who have fallen in war. It is understood that, as Commander-in-Chief of the forces, the ceremony has always been a highlight of the Queen’s year.

The Queen has been asked to rest by her medical team after undergoing preliminary investigations during her overnight stay in a London hospital – her first overnight stay in a facility in eight years – on October 20.

The last official in-person duty that she carried out is hosting a ceremony at Windsor for global business leaders on October 19.

Royal commentators are now saying that Her Majesty missing Remembrance Sunday signifies a new era in her reign, where she would be seen more on video than in the flesh.

The Queen has cancelled an appearance at the General Synod on Tuesday – the first time the Queen, who is the Supreme Governor of the church of England, will miss her five-yearly visit to the Church’s national assembly in its 51-year history.

Journalist Penny Junor explained that people will have to get used to the Queen being her age and not getting involved in official duties as much. “We’re so used to seeing her out and about and looking years younger than she is that I think we’ve been lulled into thinking she can go on at this kind of pace forever.

“Clearly she can’t. There comes a time in everybody’s life when they have to admit that they are getting older and can’t do the things that they perhaps want to do,” Ms Junor said.

The managing editor of Majesty Magazine Joe Little said that it’s very unlikely that the Queen will be seen carrying out official duties in-person for the rest of the year even if she recovers from her back sprain.
