Royalists Left Stunned Over Lilibet’s ‘American’ Accent

It looks like some people are making this out to be more of a big deal than it really is. Clearly, we are talking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and their daughter, Lilibet.

That’s because a new video that was uploaded by the Duchess of Sussex revealed Lilibet’s American accent.

But, is this really a shocker, seeing how both Lilibet and her brother Archie are being raised in California. Not only that, but it’s been years since they’ve last been in the UK, so it really shouldn’t surprise anyone that they have American accents.

While Prince Harry might still be holding on to his British accent, his family is clearly American, including his wife, Meghan Markle. So of course they are going to sound exactly like the region they live in.

But for some reason or another, many royalists on the other side of the pond simply can’t get over this. Of course, both royal fans and critics had a lot to say about the matter on social media.

Some have even commented with, “How shocking, a child growing up in America has an American accent. And yet there is no fuss when August’s face is not shown in the recent video of Eugenie and Jack.”

Another critic wrote, “From the little I have seen of Lili, she is a firecracker, and people think Meghan has time on her hand to think about dangers. She seems perfectly sweet and quite docile to me, collecting eggs and giving hugs.”

And then there was this comment as well: “I think it’s interesting that they’re fixated on their accents because one thing I learned from my British friend who moved here to the US is how strict English people can be with accents + social class.”

“My friend makes it sound as if you can gain all the money in the world and be a self made zillionaire in the UK but if you have an accent from a certain area of town you’ll still be treated like a peasant.”

So far Meghan Markle herself has not made any comments about the matter just yet. Watch this space as we have a feeling there is so much more to come.
