Royal family insiders have revealed the one word that the Firm, as the royal family is known, never says. And the revelation comes just as Kate Middleton seemingly broke royal protocol! (Don’t worry: Princess Kate actually earned praise for her action.)
Find out which word the royal family avoids. And learn what they substitute. Plus: Discover why some royal watchers thought Kate broke royal protocol below.
Royal Family AVOIDS This Word!
Never say never? Well, the Firm (also known as the royal family) follows a very strict set of guidelines. And those royal rules include avoiding one specific word, according to Hello magazine.
And the banned word is “perfume.” Royal family expert and social anthropologist Kate Fox revealed that members of the Firm use the term “scent” rather than “perfume.” And they also try to avoid the words “posh” and “toilet.”
But as far as Kate Middleton’s children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are concerned, their nanny Maria Borrallo, bans another word around them.
And Maria wants the term “kids” avoided. Instead, she prefers to use the word “children” as a “mark of respect for the children as individuals.”

Kate Middleton Breaks Royal Protocol?!
Meanwhile, recent royal family headlines have described Princess Kate as breaking royal protocol by going barefoot.
However, a very sweet reason actually exists for Kate taking off her shoes. And rather than breaking any rules, she showed respect with the action, revealed Hello.
News that the Princess of Wales went to a meeting barefoot recently linked to her fondness for participating in charitable endeavors.
And Kate even teamed up with the radio host, Roman Kemp, for a project involving a topic close to her heart, early childhood development. Roman invited Kate to visit his parents’ home for a meeting.
And then the discovery of a barefoot princess occurred. “It was an honor,” noted Roman about Kate’s visit. “But it was one of the weirdest things. We had a Zoom call, just her and me.”
And at his parents’ home where the meeting took place, Kate joined the family “at the kitchen counter.” She happily sat with “my mum and dad and my sister with all the dogs,” recalled the radio host.
However, he noted that she had taken off her shoes when she walked into his parents’ home.
As for why Kate removed her footwear when she entered the house? She desired to show respect, explained Roman.
“The funniest thing was she didn’t have any shoes on because she was respectful enough to take her shoes off at the door. That really stuck in my head because you never see royalty with no shoes,” Roman added.
