Royals News: Kate Middleton Honors Princess Diana, Tiara Worn at Diplomatic Reception

Prince William and Kate Middleton recently attended the Queen’s Diplomatic Reception. Paying tribute to and honoring her late mother-in-law, the Duchess wore Princess Diana’s tiara. It was paired perfectly with her attire for the evening and everyone is talking about the event.

Diana and Kate share more than their love for Prince William and being part of the royal family. While still alive, Diana had a favorite headpiece, which was the Lover’s Knot tiara. It is the same one that is said to be the Duchess’ favorite.

According to photos published by The Sun, Middleton wore that same tiara, which was a tribute to the gone but never forgotten princess.

The headpiece was crafted in 1914. Diana received it as a wedding gift from the Queen when she married Prince Charles in 1981.

Kate Middleton Wears Alexander McQueen

Along with the Lover’s Knot tiara, 37-year-old Kate wore an Alexander McQueen ball gown. The wedding dress designer’s gown was regal blue in color and the fabric was velvet. She paired the ball gown with the bejewelled Nizam of Hyderabad necklace. As loyal royal followers know, this piece of jewelry is part of the Queen’s personal collection.

On her ears, she wore chandelier diamonds and also donned the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order. It is the highest rank, which is on the same level as a Knight.

Queen’s Diplomatic Reception

The event was held at Buckingham Palace. Hosted by the Queen, it was a celebration of the annual white tie Diplomatic Corps. Each December, foreign ambassadors in the United Kingdom attend the event. The purpose is the reflect on the importance of international relations.

Attendees and Missing Royal Family Members

While Kate was in attendance, along with her husband, Prince William, there were two important people missing. These include Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle. While rumors are rumbling, there is a simple explanation for the couple missing recent events on the royal calendar.

After only taking a five-month maternity leave, the couple along with their young son, Archie, are on a six-week leave of absence.

While their location is being kept under wraps, many believe that they are visiting Meghan’s family in the United States. However, that has not been confirmed so take it with a grain of salt.
