Visiting dignitaries also got a chance to sign the condolence book and pay tribute to the Queen, whose 70 year reign meant she got to meet with hundreds of officials and world leaders from around the world.
“Grey’s Anatomy” Star Says She’s “Proud To Represent” Her Country During State Funeral Of Queen Elizabeth the II
On behalf of the Canadian Government, Sandra Oh attended the Queen’s state funeral alongside other delegates.
Even though the “Killing Eve” and “Grey’s Anatomy” star was born in Canada, she also has American citizenship. Oh, 51, was seen joining the procession inside Westminster Abbey as part of Canada’s delegation to the queen’s state funeral.
She got the highly limited invitation to attend the historic event, watched by hundreds of millions around the world, because of her capacity as an officer of the Order of Canada.
The titles was bestowed on her in June for her “artistic career filled with memorable stage, television and film roles in Canada and abroad,” according to the Canadian governor general’s website.
Sandra Oh gratefully received the honor, which is the second-highest honor that can be awarded to a civilian in Canada. It is given to people who have used their talents to make extraordinary contributions to the country, especially on an international scale.
The official list of delegates was announced by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on September 15, ahead of the service, which took place on Monday, September 19.
Oh, alongside the Canadian Prime Minister, Governor General Mary Simon, musician Gregory Charles and Olympic swimmer Mark Tewksbury, and several others, represented the North American country at the funeral.
After the funeral, the actress updated fans by sharing a pic of herself, wearing the customary black outfit, hat, and Order of Canada insignia and Cross of Valour recipients. She also shared a screengrab of herself from Westminster Abbey.
“Proud to represent,” she captioned the post, adding a Canadian flag emoji.
The queen’s funeral on Monday concluded 10 days of mourning and somber events, after she died peacefully at her Scottish residence Balmoral Estate.
