Senior Royals On Harry And Meghan: Fools And Money Are Soon Parted

It’s a fair bet to say that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are big spenders. At least, that’s the way Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have come across ever since their wedding engagement. Although the British Royal family has historically tried to play down the opulence with which they are accustomed … believing it’s bad taste to flaunt wealth in the faces of those who have to earn their keep … Meghan Markle especially hasn’t seemed able to grasp that concept.

Of course, Meghan Markle is new to the customs and traditions that go along with the British monarchy. Even though Prince Charles is actually the first British heir to the throne to ever hold a higher degree, the British Royals haven’t allowed their uneducated status to hold them back from milking the public for millions of pounds per year. At least Queen Elizabeth has had the good sense to keep all that quiet, however.

Now though, reports indicate that Queen Elizabeth and Prince William were both aghast at the absolute, blatant extravagance that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle displayed. For example, authors Andy Tillett and Dylan Howard wrote that ““The fact that Meghan splashed so much cash rang alarm bells with the traditionally conservative Queen Elizabeth.”

With that said, what are these authors even talking about in their book, “Royals at War?” How exactly were Meghan Markle and Prince Harry the opposite of frugal? Well, one of the examples given is the fact that during her own engagement to Prince William, Kate Middleton took engagement photos wearing a dress that cost $600 dollars. In stark contrast, Meghan Markle was a designer Ralph and Russo dress with a price tag of $75,000. Yes indeed, with such a ridiculously large gap between these prices, fans of the British Royal family might now agree with the gasps of horror heard throughout Buckingham Palace.

That wasn’t even the half of it though since Royal insiders have divulged that Meghan spent more than half a million dollars on her wardrobe alone in 2018.

Truth be told, however, the public at large shouldn’t be surprised by Meghan Markle’s penchant for extravagance. Everything Meghan has done since leaving the hit television series, “Suits” has screamed that she’s a woman who enjoys the finer things in life (and doesn’t mind letting everyone know about it). Recall that after marrying Prince Harry, she and her prince went on a world tour courtesy of the British taxpayer. Then, Meghan and Harry moved out of Kensington Palace to their own digs at Frogmore Cottage, which they then had renovated at again, the expense of the British public.

Following that, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their duties as senior members of the British Royal family, but that didn’t stop Meghan from carrying on with her need to live in the lap of luxury. In fact, everyone now knows that Meghan, Prince Harry, and their son Archie are now mooching off Prince Charles’s Duchy of Cornwall while living in an $18 Million dollar mansion in Los Angeles that sports 8 bedrooms and at least 12 bathrooms!

It can’t be any wonder that there might be friction between the Crown, Prince Harry, and his spendthrift of a wife. Indeed, Lady Colin Campbell, a frequent critic, has said publicly that Harry and Meghan’s spending habits “became a very important bone of contention. Meghan was spending more per annum than every other prince or princess in the whole of Europe … Such extravagance was regarded as not only tasteless but politically unwise by veteran courtiers at the palace.”

In light of the above, fans can only hope that perhaps Meghan and Prince Harry might memorize and take to heart the maxim that, “a fool and his money are soon parted.”
