Sentebale Chair Claims Prince Harry’s Angry That She Refused to ‘Defend’ Meghan Markle

British royal family news reveals that last week Prince Harry dumped a global organization he helped to found. He walked away from the charity Sentebale, based in Africa, just as he walked away from the monarchy in 2020.

Reports pointed to its chairperson, Zimbabwe-born lawyer Sophie Chandauka, as a source of contention within the group, and now she’s hitting back against the accusations by saying that the “origin of the dispute” with Harry erupted in April 2024 after she refused to publicly defend his wife against bad behavior. Harry’s wife is none other than Meghan Markle, a sponge for negative media coverage.

Meghan Sussex of Markle is Not Widely Adored

The Daily Mail refers to a video in which Sophie and Meghan “appear to have an awkward exchange whilst on stage following a Sentebale charity polo match.”

The world will recognize the moment as the one in which Meghan pointed to a spot she expected Sophie to occupy, and squeezed her out of a photograph.

Sophie told the Financial Times: “I said no, we are setting a precedent by which we become an extension of the Sussex PR machine.” Well, finally someone who tells it like it is. Is it a coincidence that Harry defected from a group led by a woman who allegedly dared to say no to Meghan?

Harry is Now Referred to As Meghan’s Spare

According to the outlet, Sophie argued that the “volatile public sentiment around Prince Harry” as well as the “media fallout” following the release of his memoir Spare in 2023, plus his trashy Netflix docuseries in 2022 “had an impact on the charity’s ability to diversify” and make hire employees.

To be clear, she is directly contradicting the initial version of why Harry left Sentebale. Whose version of the truth do you believe?

To be fair, a different inside source said that the kerfuffle “had nothing to do with personal tensions” and that there “are real issues at hand that haven’t been addressed.”

When the first reports surfaced about Harry’s defection, it was reported that Sophie was asked to step down as chair of Sentebale due to a lack of trust and confidence in her leadership.

For his part, Harry issued a soppy statement together with co-founder Prince Seeiso of Sentebale saying “With heavy hearts, we have resigned from our roles as Patrons of the organisation until further notice, in support of and solidarity with the board of trustees who have had to do the same.”

Harry said he was devastated to walk away, no doubt just like he was devastated to walk away from his family and the monarchy.
