Robert Lacey, author of the most current book to expose the royals’ skeletons, Battle of Brothers, told the Daily Mail that William thinks that his dad has, “lost his way,” and sees Queen Elizabeth II as his main role model.
Is It True That Prince William ‘Thinks CharlesHas Lost His Way?’
A rift, however slight, between William and Charles comes as no surprise since the media has chronicled challenges between the two for years. As a boy, William was exposed to his father’s affair with his now-wife Camilla Parker Bowles, which angered him since his dad was still married to his mom, Princess Diana.
While some sources have claimed to Vanity Fair that father and son are now, “very much on the same page” and united in their “sense of duty,” following William’s domesticity with wife Kate Middleton, Lacey begs to differ.
The Author Of Battle Of Brothers Thinks There Is A Rift Between The Second-In-Line To The Throne And The Third
According to Lacey, “William looks to his grandmother for his values, not to his father.”
Whoever he looks up to as a role model, Lacey asserts that it is on William’s shoulders to heal the Royal Family and polish its image following a disastrous year full of scandal and defections. This includes Prince Andrew’s retirement and William’s alleged estrangement with his brother Prince Harry who deserted the fam via Megxit, the snub heard round the world.
Harry’s drastic decision destroyed, “The idea of our modern royalty was built on the idea of these two brothers.”
Charles Does Not Appear To Be A Part Of William And Harry’s Rift
According to Lacey, the warring brothers must make amends, saying, “Does Prince William want to go down in history as the king who couldn’t hold his family together? This thing has to be resolved, one way or the other.”
Lacey alleges that Charles seems to have been more acquiescing toward Harry while William was livid, which has served to propel Charles and William’s drifting apart; Megxit is the gift that keeps on giving, apparently.
