Sophie Wessex Follows Prince William’s Lead By Spending The Afternoon At A Pub

It must feel really good to be a member of the British Royal Family these days. Not only are the royals finally doing in-person royal engagements and public appearances now that the UK has lifted some of the restrictions that were in place because of the coronavirus lockdown, but they are also enjoying some of the finer, if not also laid-back things in life. Just this week Sophie, Countess of Wessex, followed in the footsteps of Prince William by visiting a local pub in her neighborhood and enjoying a pint with some of the locals. According to reports, Prince Edward’s wife made a visit to a local pub to support its reopening after the lockdown. The UK finally allowed some businesses like pubs, restaurants, and hairdressers to reopen after they were forced to shut their doors back in mid-March to help stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

While at The Half Moon in Windlesham, Sophie chatted with staff and customers. ITV reports that the landlord of the pub described the order to close back in March as a “stab in the heart.” Sophie also chatted with some members of the Women’s Institute during her visit. They apparently offered her a gin and tonic but the royal family members declined, as she was driving back home. However, she did talk to them about her family and her two children, Louise and James, and how everyone got accustomed to using the video calling app Zoom while in lockdown.

Of course, many royal fans commented on Sophie’s visit by saying, “I love the Countess of Wessex. She is definitely someone who is following in the shoes of Princess Diana. She always looks so classy and stylish,” along with, “It’s so wonderful seeing the royal family do such great work. Love both Sophie and Kate.”
