It appears we will be seeing more of, and learning more about, the lovely and talented woman in the coming months as she takes on a more visible role in the wake of several royal family exits.
Royal Family Updates: Sophie Wessex must step up in the wake of three royal stepdowns?
Sophie Wessex has been relatively in the background for the past few years but that has changed with Megxit, the abandonment of The Firm by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and the banishment of Prince Andrew.
Now the spotlight shines hotter than ever before on Prince William and Kate Middleton to represent the royal family with as little controversy and as few tongue-wagging headlines as possible and apparently Sophie is following their lead. Her children are now well past school age and so it makes sense that the lady who was once a PR wiz would take a more prominent role.

This weekend the Times ran an article on the Duchess which highlights her current position and activities and shed light on what may be in store for her going forward now that there are three (and counting) royal members out of the mix.
The Duchess was recently in South Sudan campaigning against sexual violence in conflict and she spoke to the Times about her life in the new slimmed-down monarchy. Based on her answers it’s clear that the PR flame in her still burns bright as she was direct yet politely evasive in her responses.

When asked if she looks to be doing more seeing as how there are fewer working royals today, she said, “We’ve all got our own little portfolios. I don’t see anything changing, but if we’re asked to do more … I don’t know because it hasn’t really happened.”
“I am pretty busy already, so I’m not sure how much more I can do. There are only so many hours in the day. People may pay more attention to what I am doing, but I remain as busy as I have ever been.”

When asked if she is a feminist she replied, “Now there’s a question. I suppose I probably am. I believe in equality for everyone.”
Sophie knows how to answer uncomfortable questions tactfully and firmly
Sophie was less forthcoming when she was asked about Prince Andrew’s relationship with the late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein which has spawned allegations from Virginia Roberts-Giuffre and from the FBI that he has thus far refused to cooperate in their investigation. “I can’t comment on that,” she said. “I am sorry. You can understand I can’t respond.”
What does Sophie Wessex think of her relatives Harry and Meghan?
But when it came to those others disenfranchised royals, Harry and Meghan, she was a bit more positive albeit just as circumspect. “I just hope they will be happy,” is what she said.
Perfect!
