British royal family news reveals that all is good in the world–Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got a Spotify shout-out, and it isn’t “f****** grifters.” Hades is having a snowstorm …
Spotify cut Huggy and Druggy loose after they failed to produce much of note after years of patient waiting. Meghan has gone from global icon Spotify to a backyard Lemonada stand for her next podcast and there’s nowhere to go but up.
Are Meghan and Harry on the Elevator to Fame?
According to one royal expert, the elevator is already moving on up for the Markles. That’s because Spotify has offered an olive branch to the disgruntled employees by sharing the trailer for Meghan’s podcast “Confessions of a Female Founder.”
The new podcast drops on April 8 and is produced by Lemonada Media. It was just two years ago that the Markles were a laughingstock after “the Sussexes’ deal with the streaming platform ended abruptly.”
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Were With Spotify
Today Richard Fitzwilliams floated the idea that Spotify’s promo is “nothing less than a peace offering.”
In case you missed Meghan’s trailer, in it she lets us know that Confessions of a Female Founder is “a show where I chat with female entrepreneurs and friends about the sleepless nights, the lessons learned and the laser focus that got them to where they are today.”
As if to celebrate Grifter, Spotify shared the trailer with this note: “Join Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, to hear the unfiltered stories behind the successes of notable female founders.”
“The show launches April 8th, wherever you get your podcasts. Hit subscribe now so you never miss an episode!”
Meghan Markle Gets Spotify’s Attention
The Sussexes’ 2020 Spotify deal allegedly was for 18 million, but it ended in June 2023 when Huggy and Druggy “failed to meet the required productivity benchmark” according to Daily Mail.
The split got friendly when Bill Simmons, a Spotify executive, called the couple out as “f***ing grifters.”
He added: “I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation. That’s the podcast we should have launched with them.” He also added that the couple’s podcast ideas were idiotic and that if he ever gets drunk enough he’ll share some of them.
Spotify Is Not Apologizing
Fitzwilliams thinks that “What happened” to Hank and Skank “was brutal, combined with the ‘grifters’ comment. It really was something that was damaging to them.”
And so he’s convinced himself that “It is an olive branch, a small one but it could grow. The Sussexes will be very pleased with that. It is a bit of a peace offering because they were dismissed pretty brutally.”
