This summer will not only see the Cambridge kids moving into a new, albeit smaller, home, but the new term will find them in a new school.
Even though their new school is not considered one of the “posh” ones, it still comes with the hefty price of 21,000 pounds ($24,803) annual payment per pupil. Here’s what the school has to offer for the young royals and their schoolmates.
The Royal Family’s History With Lambrook School
For almost a decade the Cambridges have lived in Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace, but the royal family of five are planning to move into Adelaide Cottage. The move will see them doing things a little differently than they’re used to – for example, Adelaide only has four bedrooms. Insiders are also convinced that the Cambridges are willing to make-do without a nanny.
Their reasons for moving? They want to give their children a normal upbringing away from London, and the new property will allow them to be closer to Her Majesty.
Apart from the joys and curiosities of moving, the new term opening in September will see Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, attend Lambrook School. As exciting as it will be for the school to receive the royals, this is not the first time royal children have been educated within the walls of the school.
Lambrook School – founded in 1860 and situated in more than 50 acres of Berkshire countryside – has hosted royalty in the past. Prince Christian Victor and Prince Albert of Schleswig-Holstein, both grandsons of Queen Victoria, attended the school in the 19th century. It is known that the Queen traveled by carriage from Windsor Castle to the school to watch the boys’ plays and cricket games.
Over a century later, the school is preparing to receive royalty once again.
Lambrook School Is Renowned For Its Sporting Facilities
The school’s facilities includes a nine-hole golf course, lacrosse, badminton and basketball, as well as more traditional British school sports like rugby, football, hockey and netball.
We already know that Prince George – who joined his parents to watch the Euro 2020 final – is a big football fan – like his dad Prince William – and supports the Premier League team Aston Villa. Princess Charlotte also supported the Lionesses during their Euro 2020 final match, which they went on to win. As for Prince Louis, we saw him sporting a cricket ball in his 4th birthday picture taken by his mom Catherine.

Charlotte also loves music, and apart from knowing the best songs to listen and dance to (for example, Alicia Keys’ “This Girl Is On Fire”), her mom told us that she has a passion for dancing. The need will certainly be catered for by her new school, as they have a dedicated Performing Arts Center. The school also has a 25-strong chapel choir that occasionally performs for the public in venues including Eton College Chapel, Prince William’s alma mater.
