The Crown’s Finale Scene Would Be Explosive And Controversial

Watch out “The Crown” fans! A mega-drama may be headed your way soon. Netflix bosses are driving showrunner Peter Morgan to add more drama to the already dramatic global TV sensation. He previously revealed that Season 6, which will conclude the epic story of the Windsors, will be released next year. Season five will debut on Netflix this November.

“The Crown” Creators Reportedly Changed The Ending Of Season 5 To Leave It Open For Another Sequel

Originally, “The Crown” was meant to end with this upcoming season, but the show’s creators couldn’t help driving the story forward into modern times. Especially with the recent bombshell drama that is termed “Megxit”.

The original plan meant that the storyline will only come as far as 2002 – the momentous year when the Queen’s younger sister Princess Margaret, and her mother, died. Instead, it will be winding down with the 2005 low-key wedding of Charles and Camilla.

A TV insider said: “It’s a small but significant shift because it’s seen as marking the start of an era which becomes more focussed on Princes William and Harry and their father.

“The marriage of Charles and Camilla is treated like the end of one turbulent period in the Windsors’ story, and the start of a whole new one.”

Moving the story past 2005 will mean that there’s over two decades of royal history to explore.

It will likely include milestone moments like the Platinum Jubilee, Megxit, Prince Andrew’s disgrace and the death of Prince Philip weeks before his 100th birthday.

There are currently rumors that there could be more seasons that will go back in time to key moments of the royal history to the death of Queen Victoria in 1901 and up to Edward VIII’s 1936 abdication crisis.

Netflix is yet to comment on the reports.
