Royal Family News – A Brutal Year
In January King Charles and his daughter-in-law Princess Catherine had operations which led to diagnoses of cancer.
Kate Middleton finished a round of preventative chemotherapy in September while the monarch is still undergoing treatment.
This year Princess Anne was hospitalized with a concussion after a horse-related incident on her estate.
During a November visit to Cape Town, South Africa to award his Earthshot Prizes, William summed up the chaotic year by saying: “Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult. I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view…it’s been brutal.”

Meanwhile, in America, exiled royals Meghan Markle and Prince Harry contended with divorce rumors fueled by their “professional separation.”
Harry tried to joke off the innuendo by telling an audience during a Dec. 4 event in New York: “We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times.”
The truth is that he left the couple’s Montecito, California home in October for a series of appearances and has not been photographed with his wife or two kids Archie and Lilibet since.
Speaking of dogs, King Charles and Queen Camilla’s beloved dog Beth, a Jack Russell terrier, died on Nov. 18.
Charles And Camilla In Ill Health
This year Queen Camilla contracted pneumonia which prevented her from attending Kate’s annual Christmas Carol concert.
Buckingham Palace announced on Nov. 5: “Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.” Her illness also caused her to miss Remembrance Day events.
Sadly, Thomas Kingston, the husband of Lady Gabriella Windsor was found dead Feb. 25, the result of suicide. The couple married in 2019.
Like Kate and Charles, Sarah Ferguson was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, an aggressive form of skin cancer, while several months prior she underwent a single mastectomy to treat breast cancer.
Brighter News For The Royals
