The Ones Who Got Away–Prince William’s Girlfriends Before Kate Middleton

The Ones Who Got Away--Prince William's Girlfriends Before Kate MiddletonBritish royal family news reveals that Prince William and Princess Catherine’s love story began at St. Andrews when they were undergrads.

They are now parents to three beautiful children and it’s hard to imagine a more beautiful and talented future queen than Kate Middleton.

Yet both Kate and William had healthy dating lives before meeting each other, and William even broke up with her at one point before coming to his senses.

Here is a fascinating look at the women who had a slim chance of becoming queen (in an alternate universe) if William had never met the love of his life, Princess Catherine!

1) Davina Duckworth-Chad

Davina dated Prince William in the late 90s and according to Tatler even went on a cruise on the Aegean Sea with the eligible bachelor in 1999. The couple were accompanied by his father the Prince of Wales and Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall.

Davina’s father, Anthony Duckworth-Chad, is a longtime friend of King Charles and she is now married to Tom Barber and has twin daughters, India and Sienna, born in 2013.

2) Natalie Hicks-Löbbecke

Prince William was rumored to be dating Natalie before going off to St. Andrews. She is the daughter of Major Martin Hicks-Löbbecke and according to the Telegraph “Her wholesome image is said to have captivated the Prince, although they both denied a romance.”

Natalie is married to Edward Milbank, and they have three children born between 2009 and 2013: Harry, Alexander, and Arabella.

3) Rose Farquhar

According to the Daily Mail “Rose is generally considered the Prince’s first serious girlfriend and they were an item in 2000 when he was still at Eton. Rose appeared on The Voice UK, and last year Prince William attended her wedding to George Gemmell.

4) Jecca Craig

Prince William met and dated Jecca Craig during his gap year. They parted ways when he went off to St. Andrew’s. Fun fact: William proposed to Kate at Craig’s family’s Lewa Private Estate.

Today Craig is an environmental conservationist and founded Panthera, a conservation organization, and Stop Ivory, which advocates for an end to the ivory trade. She’s married to Jonathan Baillie, and together they have two children.

5) Olivia Hunt

After Craig, William dated Olivia Hunt who attended Edinburgh University while he was at St. Andrews. A friend of William is quoted as saying “When Kate came on the scene, Olivia moved off pretty quickly.” Olivia is married to Nicholas Wilkinson and works for Dorisa.

6) Carley Massey-Birch

Prince William was linked to college co-ed Carley Massey-Birch who told Vanity Fair: “We got on well, but I think we would have got on well even if nothing had been going on romantically. It was very much a university thing, just a regular university romance.”

According to MSN their fling reportedly ended when Carley told William he had to choose between her and Arabella Musgrave” the “other woman” back home!

7) Arabella Musgrave

Prince William met Arabella in summer 2001, before taking off to St. Andrews. According to Vanity Fair they broke up but William “missed Arabella … he took comfort from the fact that she was back at home, and when he returned to Highgrove for weekends they would meet up.”

Arabella married George Galliers-Pratt, and she’s employed by Gucci.

8) Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe

During another one of his romance “breaks” Prince William met Isabella. A source dished to The Mail on Sunday that William “dumped Kate because he thought he had a chance with Isabella and Kate knew that.”

In 2013 she married Sam Branson, the son of Virgin Atlantic’s Richard Branson, and they have two children: Eva-Deia and Bluey Rafe Richard.

Today it is inconceivable to think of Prince William being married to anyone other than beloved Princess Catherine and together they have three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
