The Princess Of Wales And Queen Consort Met Commonwealth Leaders During High Profile Event

The monarchy is really shaking things up following the death of our beloved Queen. Camilla has taken her rightful title as Queen Consort after her husband’s accession and Catherine has effectively become the first Princess of Wales after Diana.

But the titles aren’t the only thing that’s changed, as they’ve both gone up in hierarchy. Recently, the pair were pictured mingling with world leaders at an event hosted by King Charles the III.

Catherine And Camilla Mingle With Royalty And Governor-generals From the Commonwealth Realms

The Prince and Princess of Wales joined King Charles and Queen Camilla for an official meeting, with only working royals in attendance.

During the Buckingham Palace launch on Saturday, Camilla and Catherine were seen in deep conversation.

The picture showed the newly minted Princess of Wales smiling at the Queen Consort, who was holding a drink with a slice lemon in it, as they chatted with each other.

At one stage, Catherine, who graced the event in a long three-strand pearl necklace, placed her hand on the arm of Saint Lucia governor-general Cyril Errol Melchiades Charles as they spoke.

During the course of the evening, Catherine was also spotted standing beside the King as he talked with foreign dignitaries.

Princess Anne and Prince Edward also attended the special event.

What Happens To the Commonwealth Realms Under Charles’ Reign

At the moment, some of the 14 remaining countries that retain the monarchy as head of state have hinted at plans to move on and become an independent nation. The most recent one to leave the union is Barbados in November 2021, with the King on the ground the day it took place.

With the start of King Charles’ reign, the monarchy’s role in some of the countries appear less certain.

The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne, made the King aware that he would call a referendum within three years on the country becoming a republic.

Following the death of the Queen, New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has said her government will not rush to become a republic.

Jamaica, like their Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the Prince and Princess of Wales aware of in March when they visited the country, intends to move on in order to “fulfil our true ambitions and destiny as an independent, developed, prosperous country”.
