There’s controlling and then there’s this royal level of controlling. There’s a new report that suggests the British Royal Family tried to change some of the things in Meghan Markle’s script while she was still on the hit USA legal drama, Suits.
Apparently, the royals had a problem with her saying the word ‘poppycock’ in front of the cameras even though she was technically still Prince Harry’s girlfriend at the time and not an official member of the royal family. Here’s what you need to know.
Royal Family News: The Royals Demanded Changes To Meghan Markle’s Lines In ‘Suits’
According to show creator Aaron Korsh, he says that the producers and writers of the show couldn’t help but feel irritated by the royal family’s involvement and their demands.
He said that when Meghan Markle began dating Prince Harry, the royals got involved with the scriptwriting and tried to change some of the things that Meghan said as her character, Rachel Zane.
The royals were quite disturbed when Rachel used the word ‘poppycock’ in an argument that she had with her on-screen lover, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams).
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Korsh said, “And the royal family did not want her saying the word.
They didn’t want to put the word ‘poppycock’ in her mouth. I presume because they didn’t want people cutting things together of her saying ‘cock.'”

Eventually, the word was replaced with ‘bull s***.’ But Korsh did add that the whole ordeal was quite irritating for everyone involved.
He continued, “I did not like it because I’d told my in-laws that [poppycock] was going to be in the show. There was maybe one or two more things, but I can’t remember.
When they explained it that way, and I’m pretty sure it got explained to me that it was about that [splicing potential], I had some sympathy because I wouldn’t want somebody doing that to her either.
And the thing is, I didn’t think anybody really would, but also I don’t know. People are crazy.”
Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter.
