The Royals Detest The Crown, But Here’s What They DO Watch

British royal family news divulges that Netflix’s The Crown is a controversial depiction of the royal family, and some are saying this season it goes too far by focusing on the breakdown of Charles and Diana’s marriage. For some reason, Prince Harry got in bed with the streamer who now seem to own him and his wife Meghan. Tsk, tsk. Tangled web, and all that.

But the royals have made no secret of the shows they do approve of and watch, here are some of them.

Royal Family News – King Charles

Last week King Charles let the cat out of the bag when he appeared at the National Television Awards and recognized long running soap Emmerdale on its 50th anniversary. He admitted that he is such a fan, “I’m afraid I’m so old I remember when it was called Emmerdale Farm, owned by the Sugdens.”

In a similar vein, last year Charles’ wife praised the BBC Radio 4 drama, The Archers. On the show’s 70th anniversary Camilla the Queen Consort stated: “For as long as I can remember, I have loved this program. It has been my faithful companion for a large part of my life. Like many other Archers addicts, I have been known to become quite ratty if disturbed between 7:00pm and 7:15pm – and, like thousands of others, had severe withdrawal symptoms when you all-but-disappeared during lockdown! But I’m very glad you’re back, let’s keep it that way.”

Royal Family News – The Princess of Wales

Tons of people enjoy the fun dance competition show Strictly Come Dancing, and Princess Kate is one of them! Her husband William told Strictly judge Shirley Ballas in 2019: “I have watched the show [Strictly] a couple of times. Catherine is a huge fan and my mother-in-law loves it.”

Royal Family News – Prince William

Now that we know what Kate likes to watch on tv, what might William enjoying watching? In 2020 he told BBC’s The Big Night In, that he likes the iconic BBC soap EastEnders. And last year he divulged that he is a big fan of BBC’s Killing Eve.

When Prince William and Kate watch tv together, there are several shows they view. In 2017, Prince William revealed that they are, “big fans of Homeland” and Game of Thrones. William was quoted as saying, “You should definitely watch Game of Thrones, that’s worth watching.”

And, William Moseley, star of E!’s The Royals, once spilled that the couple were fans of One Tree Hill, made by the creator of The Royals.

Royal Family News – Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth

The Daily Telegraph reported that Queen Elizabeth enjoyed watching Downton Abbey on Sundays. The late monarch was also known to love The X Factor and Coach Trip.
