This has prompted royal fans to consider the changes that will occur when the monarch passes (which we hope is many, many years from now). Read on to discover what will happen to Kate and Prince William, as well as their children when the sitting British monarch passes away.
Royal Family News – What Happens To William & Kate When King Charles Dies?
In January Buckingham Palace revealed that King Charles would undergo a procedure to treat an enlarged prostate, and that Kate would have a scheduled abdominal operation.
Sadly, we learned in February that tests showed that both royals have cancer, and currently they are undergoing treatment.
In Charles’ case this announcement was made: “During the king’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted … diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”
There has been morbid speculation about the monarch’s condition but the palace announced on April 26 that he would be picking up his royal duties.
Still, given his age (75), the rumor mill is overflowing with speculation about the true state of his health, with one outlet reporting that he has just two years to live.
Royal Family News – Kate and William Are The Next Monarchs
How will Charles’s eventual death affect Prince William and Kate Middleton, and their three kids?
The royal succession order will be changed, with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis becoming the second, third, and fourth in line, respectively, after their father, who will become King William.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will also receive title changes. Prince George will be named “Prince of Wales.” But, Princess Charlotte will become “Princess Royal” only after her great aunt Princess Anne dies. Finally, Prince Louis will likely become “Duke of York” a title currently held by disgraced Prince Andrew.
Royal Family News – Royal Title Changes
Right now Prince William and Princess Catherine are focused on her recuperation. A source told OK! that “They don’t want Kate’s diagnosis to overshadow the children’s lives and their happiness.”
As such, during the weekend of April 26, 2024 celebrations for Prince Louis’s sixth birthday and Prince William and Middleton’s 13th wedding anniversary will be held.
Prince William recently revealed that the kids now have guinea pigs to focus on: “I spend my life cleaning out the guinea pig cage because the children forget to do it. The ones we’ve got at home, they’re off. You have to keep them constantly stroked and looked after.” It sounds like the family is handling the current situation with love and humor, and we would expect nothing less from the Wales family.
