Royal wedding bands and engagement rings have that extra je ne sais quoi, no? If you’re wondering who has the most expensive engagement ring, you’re in luck because we have the answer. Read on to discover whose dainty digit is loaded down with the most lavish bling!
Royal Rings Are Blingtastic
The Daily Mail asked jewelry expert Anya Walsh to name the priciest royal ring and chances are you already know which one it is. But before we spoil the surprise, let’s take a look at a more economical model which is nonetheless jaw dropping.
Princess Eugenie wears a rare Padparadscha sapphire encircled with diamonds. Her sapphire has a lovely pink tint with small pear-shaped side stones and Walsh calls it “beautifully unique.”
Who Has the Most Expensive Royal Ring?
The late Diana’s 12-carat sapphire and diamond ring is one of the most recognizable jewels ever. She received it from King Charles in 1981 and Prince William bestowed it upon Kate Middleton in 2010.
Because of its enduring link to Diana, Walsh says that Kate’s ring is the priciest royal band. She says that “it’s probably one of the most iconic pieces of jewelry in existence, and whilst this makes it priceless … the value of the physical ring itself would be an absolute minimum of £500,000 ($644,000).”
William told reporters that he’d been “carrying it around” in his backsack for weeks before springing it on Kate in Kenya. “It’s my mother’s engagement ring … this was my way of keeping her close” he shared.
Queen Camilla is Second Again
The second most expensive royal engagement ring belongs to Queen Camilla. With a valuation of over $300,000, the Art Deco bling is from the Queen Mother’s collection.
The stunning ring is set with a five-carat emerald-cut diamond surrounded by three baguette-cut diamonds on each side. The Queen’s ring was actually given as a push present when the Queen Mother gave birth to her daughter, the late Queen Elizabeth!
Meghan Markle is Third in Line
Who has the third-most expensive royal ring? Would you believe it’s Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex? Compared to the other two rings, Meghan’s three-stone diamond bauble is relatively cheap with an estimated value of $190,000.
And yet it’s never been good enough for the Discount Duchess who allegedly has had it altered at least three times, despite its historic connection.
Meghan’s ring includes two small diamonds from Diana’s collection plus a center stone from Botswana. It was designed by Prince Harry who probably never imagined it would not be enough for his bride.
Walsh calls it an outstanding piece that “demonstrates how old and new can be perfectly blended.”
