What Can Queen Camilla Do About The King’s Workaholic Nature Amid His Health Condition

King Charles is taking the innocent word ‘workaholic’ to a whole new level. Last week, he was rushed to the hospital for a checkup after he reacted badly to his cancer treatment, and while he took the weekend off to recuperate, he was still reportedly doing some work behind-the-scenes.

But if you think he’s cancelling or postponing his Italy trip just because of his indifferent health, you’ve got another think coming.

Queen Camilla Reportedly the Only Royal That Can Get King Charles To Slow Down

After waiting 73 years to become the monarch, no one would blame Charles much for hitting the ground running. Despite his advanced age, he’s apparently determined to leave as much a mark as he can before his time comes.

But he might be speeding his time up if he continues to push himself. “Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital,” a statement from a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, shared with BBC, read.

This happened on Thursday, March 27, and already, his mind is geared towards returning to work.
Perhaps his recent weekend rest was enough, because he has reportedly cancelled “an African spa retreat” he booked with wife Queen Camilla. He further cancelled “his annual walking holiday in Romania” as a result of his health.

Royal expert Phil Dampier told the Sun that “King Charles has always worked hard and is renowned for burning midnight oil and even falling asleep at his desk working so many hours. But those days must be a thing of the past and it’s vital he looks after his health and cuts down his workload.”

Dampier continued, “He needs to pace himself—which the Queen has said he is hopeless at doing—and she is probably the only person he will listen to.”

Royal fans are apparently not the only ones getting frustrated that the King won’t take things slow, his wife Camilla is perhaps even more so.

During her chat with author Lee Child last summer, Camilla indicated that Charles “won’t slow down and won’t do what he’s told.”

A source further emphasized this in a chat with the Daily Beast last year, saying, “She has been trying to encourage him to slow down. Of course, he wants to keep cracking on, but she is afraid that doing too much could set him back.”
