What Critics Have Said So Far About Meghan Markle’s Feel-good Netflix Show

Meghan Markle’s new cooking show is no doubt a delicious exhibition of the lavish dream every homemaker has.

You might not have dreamed of entertaining the one and only Mindy Kaling at your home and discussing why it matters to you that people know you now go by the last name Sussex, but you’ve most likely dreamed of making mundane things like dicing onions and tomatoes in the kitchen look cool and interesting.

In ‘With Love, Meghan,’ that’s exactly what the Duchess of Sussex was aiming for. Whether she accomplished this is another question altogether.

Meghan Markle’s Netflix Show Slammed For Lackluster Lavishness

‘With Love, Meghan’ was supposed to open the New Year, but out of respect for the victims of the LA fires, it was moved to March 4.

In the trailer, Meghan teases, “I’ve always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it. Surprising people with moments that let them know I was really thinking of them.”

She further said, “I’m going to share some little tips and tricks. I see what colour I gravitate to, and everything goes from there. And how you incorporate these practices every day. This is about connecting with friends. I love that we’re doing this together for the first time. Making new friends.. and just learning.”

So yeah, this is what she basically promised fans. Did she deliver? Uhh… Variety thinks not!

In their review of the series, the outlet writes, “That’s because “With Love, Meghan” exists as a sort of celebration of all things Duchess of Sussex — and, as with past of her media outings, no amount of praise seems enough.

Each episode features a jumbled timeline whereby Meghan hosts a friend of hers, famous or not, then jumps back in time to show how she prepared the food or the tablescape.”

They continued: “Then, back in the present, she once again recaps what we just saw, so that the guest may marvel at Meghan’s ingenuity. All play along — many guests are Meghan’s real-life friends. But some lay it on thicker than others.

Kaling recalls receiving a jar of preserves from Meghan’s brand American Riviera Orchard, which was entirely retooled before its new launch under the name As Ever. Those preserves, Kaling says, represented “probably one of the most glamorous moments of my life.””

In other words, Meghan Markle may have both clapped and patted herself on the back… but she was wise enough to get some willing mouthpieces to do it for her.
