What Prince Charles And Camilla Accomplished In Canada Before They Left

On Tuesday, March 17, Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall arrived in Canada for their first visit to the North American country in years. The pandemic also contributed to keeping the royals away from the country that is without a competition the most visited international country by the Queen.

The couple spent three days in the country and carried out multiple engagements before they flew back to the U.K.

Prince Charles and Camilla’s arrival was met enthusiastically by officials and hundreds of Canadians who were keen to meet the royals.

Prince Charles And Camilla’s Canadian Trip Praised For Being Successful

Going on royal trips these days is tricky. I mean, we saw how the media reacted to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s tour of the Caribbean.

Even though Prince Charles and Camilla’s tour of Canada did not receive as much coverage as the Cambridges, it was still seen as a success.

On the first day, Charles and Camilla were greeted by crowds of flag-waving Canadians when he arrived in Ottawa and inspected the assembled military personnel as the Colonel-in-chief of the Black Watch.

Prince Charles, who holds three honorary military titles in Canada, knows how important it was to get the trip right as Canada was one of the five founding members of the Commonwealth. At one point during the visit, the royal was told to offer an apology as a result of the monarchy’s past with Canada. While he didn’t exactly offer an apology, those asking him to make it accepted his recognition of the failures of the past.

Charles was also asked to get the Queen to issue an apology to the Canadian people, and while he didn’t exactly promise anything, he’s optimistic about developing a stronger relationship with Canada in the future.

During his visit to Canada, he and Camilla visited several places in Canada and brought attention to Canada’s famous sights.
At the end of the day, Prince Charles said that it’s the people of Canada that makes the country as great as it is.
