To think that only two weeks ago, he was still the Prince of Wales and managing the Duchy of Cornwall. Now, it’s almost as if he’s put aside all childish things (passed them on to William) to become the ruling monarch.
We heard his first address to the nation, and we saw him, rather sadly, admit that he’ll be leaving behind the charities so dear to him to assume his role as King of the United Kingdom.
What’s to become of his organic food brand? I’m sure customers of the healthy brand would love to know.
Charles’ Top Food Brand Faces Uncertain Future After He Becomes King
I don’t think many people actually know that King Charles is the owner of a profitable business. In true lover of the environment fashion, Charles founded Duchy Organics in 1990 to market produce from his farms. Oh, don’t be surprised, he really does enjoy the activity every once in a while.
Duchy Organics has since grown into the largest organic food and drink brand in the United Kingdom, according to the company.
In the year through March 2021, the company has managed to bring in $4.1 million before taxes. Not to say that the brand was a sure-bet from the start. However, it began to thrive, when, in 2009, it partnered with Waitrose.
This gave the grocery chain exclusive rights to sell products under the Duchy name, meaning that shoppers can find salmon, sausages, milk, carrots and blueberries bearing the “Waitrose Duchy Organic” name at its stores.
At this point, the fate of the brand is yet to be decided following Charles’ accession as King, but it is very likely he would opt to pass it on to his son William, who shares his love for the environment.
