What’s Wrong With Queen Elizabeth – Why Monarch is Skipping Events?

Queen Elizabeth appears to be in the midst of a health emergency. This is more serious than the recent revelation that the royal doctors have asked her to discontinue any alcohol. There seems to be a great deal of concern for the health of the 95-year-old monarch.

The Queen No Longer Attending COP26 Climate Conference

Although Queen Elizabeth has recently attended many events and appeared to be in the best of health, there was a recent announcement that has surprised everyone. The Palace has now announced that Queen Elizabeth will not be attending next week’s COP26 climate conference. Instead of speaking to the conference in person, she is going to speak via video.

Moreover, the Palace has claimed that she will not go to Glasgow for the event, as she is now “undertaking light duties at Windsor Castle.” This is after a recent revelation that the Queen was in hospital. The press and social media have been aflutter with discussions on what could be wrong with the Queen.

Palace Not Revealing Queen’s Whereabouts

Much of the concern about her Majesty occurred when Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth would not be going to Northern Ireland last week. They were celebrating a historic moment of 100 years of the partition of the island. They explained that the royal doctors wanted her to rest.

A day later, Nicholas Witchell, who is The BBC’s veteran royal correspondent, called out the Palace for misleading the press. The press was advised that the Queen was resting inside of Windsor Castle. However, Queen Elizabeth had gone to King Edward VII’s Hospital in London.

Witchell has told BBC Breakfast that the only reason they learned the truth was that the news leaked out. Not because the Palace was telling the truth. “We were led to believe on Wednesday that the Queen was resting at Windsor Castle. As we were being told that, and relaying it to our viewers and newspapers to their readers, in fact, she was in hospital.”

One hint that something was afoot was that the Queen’s driver was walking her beloved Corgis in the afternoon. This is a job that the Monarch does regularly. But, Boris Johnson, who also appears to be abreast of the situation, may or may not know more than he is telling, claimed she was at her desk working.

Johnson stated, “I’m given to understand her Majesty is characteristically back at her desk at Windsor.” The Prime Minister then sent on his good wishes, “I think everybody sends Her Majesty our very, very best wishes. And certainly we have from the Government.”

Queen Elizabeth’s Robust Schedule

In the days leading up to Queen Elizabeth’s hospital stay, she had a very busy schedule with virtual meetings and in-person meetings. From meeting the Canadian troops from 1st Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery to granting pianist Dame Imogen Cooper the Queen’s Medal for Music, to an away trip to Cardiff, the queen has had a non-stop schedule that would be challenging for someone even half her age.

As for now, Buckingham Palace is sharing very few details, and trying to paint an optimistic picture. Simultaneously, the press and social media want to know what is really wrong with Queen.
