British royal family news reveals that in light of Meghan Markle’s marriage to Prince Harry, many royal fans are wondering, who Is Meghan Markle’s mother? Her mom was born Doria Loyce Ragland on September 2, 1956 but unlike her infamous daughter she appears to shun the spotlight.

Not much is known about the life and times of Ragland but it has been reported that she was variously a social worker, makeup artist and yoga instructor.

According to People magazine Meghan Markle’s mom lives in Los Angeles, not too far from the Montecito mansion where Meghan and Harry live with their two children, 2-year-old son Archie Harrison and daughter Lilibet Diana, who was born on June 4, 2021.

A friend told People that mother and daughter are a lot alike and that Meghan, “definitely gets a lot of her strength from her mother.”

Doria Ragland was born in Cleveland, Ohio. According to sources her mother was a nurse and her father, Alvin Azell Ragland, made a living by selling items at second hand stores. Ragland and her parents moved to Los Angeles when Ragland was an infant. Meghan’s mother has three siblings.

Ragland was a student at Fairfax High School in LA then reportedly worked as a makeup artist. She met Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, while both worked on the ABC soap opera General Hospital. Unlike Ragland, he has never met Meghan’s children and once said he would consider suing for grandparent’s rights. He appears to have backed off that stance, saying that he desires no further conflict between him and daughter.

After meeting Thomas on the GH set, Ragland he went on to work as a travel agent and small business owner but reportedly filed for bankruptcy in the mid-2000s. She earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California and worked a short time for Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services.

According to sources, Ragland and Thomas Markle Sr. married on December 23, 1979, at Hollywood’s Paramahansa Yogananda Self-Realization Fellowship Temple in a ceremony performed by Brother Bhaktananda. Meghan was born in 1981 and the couple separated when she was two years old. Ragland and Markle finalized their divorce in 1987.
