Harry left the royal family not in a sudden abrupt exit. Instead, the Duke of Sussex and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, added to the confusion and contradictions by taking their departure in stages. Find out what really happened to cause Harry to leave The Firm, as the royal family is known, below.
When Did Prince Harry First Hint At Royal Family Exit?
Royal family experts point to October 2019 as the date on which Prince Harry sparked rumors of an exit, reports People. The Duke of Sussex and Duchess of Sussex revealed a plan to spend more than a month away for “family time” with their son Archie. As a result, the trio headed to Vancouver Island, Canda, to see out 2019.
And that trip to Canada hinted at a sea change for Prince Harry’s attitude toward The Firm. Rather than the traditional royal family holiday celebrations, the Duke of Sussex made it clear that he wanted to be alone with his wife and son. Not long after that came Prince Harry’s first formal exit announcement.
Prince Harry Reveals ‘Step Back’ Exit Plan
On January 8, 2020, Prince Harry teamed up with Meghan Markle to unveil their “step back” exit plan. That decision would, said the couple, allow them to “step back as senior members of the Royal Family.” Adding to the clues that Harry wanted to distance himself from The Firm, the Duke of Sussex also shared his desire to divide his time between North America and the U.K.
“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” stated Meghan and Harry in their joint statement. “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”
Royal Family Gathers For ‘Sandringham Summit’ Over ‘Megxit’
Less than a week after Harry’s announcement, the Duke of Sussex met with his father Prince Charles, brother Prince William, and Queen Elizabeth. That gathering at the Queen’s country home to hash out the exit announcement got dubbed the “Sandringham Summit.” And Harry’s and Meghan’s departure from the royal family even earned its own name: “Megxit.”
March 31, 2020 officially became the date on which Prince Harry and Meghan exited from life with the royal family. The “Sandringham Summit” worked out an agreement for a one-year transition period. But despite all the complications, the real reason for their exit is simple, shared a royal family insider.
Prince Harry left the royal family for one major reason. All that the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan desire was to make their own way in the world. “This is what Meghan and Harry have always wanted — to create their own life,” summed up the source. “It’s got to feel like an immense relief to get out of the U.K. and go down their own path.”

The real question is whether Prince Harry would have left his family if he had not met MM?
He did what Meghan told him to do. She thought she could be royal and live in the US. In the end, that won’t happen. They need their Royal titles taken away.
Harry and Megan did what was best for their family and their sanity.
They wanted their cake and eat it. For the Queen to have let Harry redesign his role would have undermined the Queens position as Queen and ruler. Politically the Queen understands it would be disrespectful to America to have a British Prince parading about the US doing and saying what he feels like whilst he is a representative of the Royal family and the UK. He is foolish and arrogant to have thought he could just announce what he wanted to do and create the position he and his wife wanted to perform representing Queen and country. He obviously expected UK taxpayers to shell out for some of his lifestyle in the US because during his nasty Oprah interview he said he was upset at "being cut off" and complained about not having UK taxpayers pay for his family's security. What grown man doesn't realize that when you quit your job the company perks stop!! I think he has done the UK a favor. They could have been sadly paying for this spoiled brat had he not have been so foolish.
I feel that the two did not think this thru. Feel like they felt that the money, protection & and any other goodies would continue despite not doing the work. Surprise! Their “take two” world still requires work then goodies. Working does not seem to be high on their list. We hear all about “the wonderful plans” but see little results.
He is brain washed!
