Why Kate Middleton is the Polka Dot Princess and What It Signifies

Why Kate Middleton is the Polka Dot Princess and What It SignifiesYou can’t ever have missed Kate Middleton wearing a polka dot dress even if you tried. This season, the Duchess of Cambridge has dazzled fans with the trend at almost every major royal event this year.

Her white gown with black polka dots got designated the mood of the summer by Hello! Magazine.

What A Color Psychologist Has To Say About Kate’s Commitment to Polka Dots

Duchess Kate Middleton blew us away when she stepped out last month at Royal Ascot wearing a beautiful white gown featuring big black spots, and she certainly did not tone down the heat with her azure blue and white polka dot dress by Alessandra Rich at Wimbledon.

We’re also thinking about the elegant black dress she wore during Prince Philip’s memorial service this March that was littered with tiny polka dots. Why does she keep serving up polka dots?

To figure out why – cause we’re all dying to know – Hello! sat down with colour psychologist and director of design at “Lick Colour”, Tash Bradley, to discuss Kate’s love for polka dots and what that could mean.

Tash explained the psychology of polka dot patterns, saying: “So someone who is wearing polka dots, they’re wanting to portray a fun-ness, a sort of playfulness. When you think of polka dots you instantly soften.”

Kate loves tennis so it makes sense that she would choose to enjoy a game at Wimbledon wearing a ‘Pleated Embellished Polka-Dot Silk Crepe de Chine Midi Dress’.

Continuing on with the logic, it also makes sense that she would want to exude some playfulness vibe during Prince Philip’s Thanksgiving, especially as she attended the Thanksgiving ceremony with her husband and two oldest children.

Tash continued: “When you go for polka dots it’s very playful, it opens up conversation, it makes you give off a sort of warm feel.”

This could also explain the reason why the royal ladies went spotted for Royal Ascot. In June, Kate, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway, all chose to wear polka dots to social events.
