Why Princess Anne Can’t Fill In For King Charles In Prince William’s Absence Explained

Why Princess Anne Can't Fill In For King Charles In Prince William's Absence ExplainedThere’s a reason why Princess Anne is famously dubbed “the hardest working royal.” The reason is simple really.

It’s because she is indeed the hardest working royal, racking up more engagements per year than any other member of the Royal Family, older or younger. Yet, you won’t find her representing the King in William’s absence. Why?

Princess Anne Not “High Level Enough” To Officially Represent King, Royal Insider Says

As the royal family deals with multiple health crisis amid their new slimmed-down atmosphere, it’s proving difficult to find royals who could fill in for the King, who is receiving treatment for cancer, and Prince William, who is caring for a wife receiving treatment from cancer.

King Charles has been advised not to make long distance travels and Prince William is unlikely to replace the King for the Samoan tour taking place later this year.

However, Charles reportedly wants to undertake the trip to Samoa for the October 21 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), despite his medical team’s advice.

An insider told The Daily Express: “Attending the CHOGM is not something William can take on at this time due to Kate’s health, and although Anne and other working royals are doing a great job stepping in to plug the gaps at home, they are not viewed as high level enough to represent the sovereign as leader of the Commonwealth.”

Princess Ann and Prince Edward will likely not be permitted to fill in for the King due to their roles within the monarchy not being senior enough.

Discussing the tour, the source added: King Charles presence at both the Commonwealth meeting and in Australia is viewed as instrumental in preserving Commonwealth unity.”

“Despite medical advice recommending against travelling long distances, particularly due to the time difference which can add to exhaustion, the King remains resolute in his decision to undertake the trip.”

As a result of the King’s health, the Palace is currently operating under a “nothing is ruled in or out” strategy for any and all future engagements.
