Will It Be A Merry Little Christmas For The Royal Family?

The Royal Family now has a new boss, and King Charles is already making some moves that might upset some of those associated with the crown. With Christmas coming hard on the heels of the sovereign taking the lead, will Christmas be a much smaller occasion than in former years?

Actually, long before he took over from Queen Elizabeth, the news leaked that he’d be watching the pennies and no doubt saving the taxpayers pounds. 

The Royal Family Decisions That King Charles Makes

Already, the flavor of the monarch has changed since Queen Elizabeth passed away. Actually, most of the impact focuses on the rest of the royal siblings. King Charles has a large family, and some of them were axed.

For example, some of the royals lost their status as working royals. Then the news came that the new monarch decided to appoint his sister Princess Anne and youngest brother, Prince Edward as stand-ins for himself. Meanwhile, Prince Harry was passed over. 

The Royal Family fans should understand that the Queen Consort is a working royal and probably the most influential one when it comes to Charles. Probably he chatted with Camilla Parker-Bowles about this year’s Christmas season. Usually, it’s a big and lavish festival with plenty of public speeches. Of course, the Christmas speech is likely to remain. But will other things change? 

The Royal Family Does Christmas A Bit Differently In 2022

The Royal Family Christmas this year was the subject of a discussion on Sunrise on 7. The news emerged that we can expect to see the family stay at Sandringham as they have every year.

However, the formalities might be toned down a lot. Probably they will all troop down to the church and then back home again for a presumably traditional Christmas lunch. Mind you their lunch might differ from the average person’s in this time of inflation. No doubt, the palace chefs will produce multiple meat choices. Clearly, there are no worm burgers planned for the elite. 

Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attend the family festivities? Apparently, they were invited, but generally, the belief seems to be that they won’t. With their upcoming Netflix series and Harry’s book, “Spare” coming out, they might not squeeze in a visit to the UK. Folks who saw the discussion on Sunrise on 7 had some ideas about Christmas. A lot of people think that it probably won’t be all that merry with or without Harry and his wife.  After all, it’s the first festive season without Queen Elizabeth. 

Other Comments

Royal family watchers like that things will change with Charles. Cutting back on massive spending with pomp and pageantry appeals to the burden of the taxpayer. One person wrote, “I am glad to see the UK moving on. No one can ever replace QE II and she has left us with many amazing great memories to cherish. So thankful for her life but also glad to see the legacy moving on.”
