With up to 40 Million Americans having filed for unemployment following the Coronavirus crisis, Prince Harry may find getting work a bit harder than he (or Meghan Markle) anticipated. Indeed, in California alone, “20.6 percent of the labor force in California — the most populous state — is collecting jobless claims,” according to The Washington Post. That can’t be good news for Meghan and Harry who may be strapped for cash.

Fans of Meghan and Prince Harry know that while the two decided to separate from the British Royal family and step back from their former royal duties in association with working for The Firm, they did so in large because they wanted financial independence. However, without the ability to use the word “Royal” as part of their branding, and without any jobs lined up and secured, Meghan and Harry now find themselves in Los Angeles potentially in a bad situation.

Many believe that Meghan had a net worth of over $5 Million just before she met and married Prince Harry. At the time, Harry still had an income as he was carrying out his royal duties. However, it’s not clear how much of Meghan’s money is still left, or how much Harry was able to stash in bank accounts from his own monies, following their departure from Great Britain. On the bright side, Harry may still have a significant sum available to him from the inheritance left to him by his mother, Princess Diana.

That being said, if Harry and Meghan are having to pay rent to Tyler Perry, or if they choose to purchase a home in the lavish neighborhoods of Malibu, California, they will definitely need to have streams of income. How Meghan and Harry plan to do that, however, remains to be seen.

There have been tabloid reports that Meghan is becoming desperate and that she believes their financial situation isn’t good. After all, Meghan and Harry did agree to repay the $3 Million price tag of refurbishing Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

With that debt in mind and the need to maintain their lavish lifestyle, Meghan reportedly ordered Harry to go out and get some kind of job. However, if that’s true, it begs the question as to what kind of job Harry would be qualified for, and where he would obtain that job considering the economic situation in the United States right now.

Moreover, Harry doesn’t even have a Green Card at the moment. In fact, multiple reports suggest that Prince Harry won’t even try to get a Green Card or U.S. citizenship. Now, in light of everything above, either Harry is supremely confident that he can find work without these things (maybe he can find work internationally) or he is delusional. Fans must keep in mind the fact that Harry never went to the university, and the only real work experience he has is in the British military. Of course, Harry has worked with various charities, but hasn’t it mostly been by lending his face and name to their respective causes?

In the end, and for the moment at least, Meghan may be the one who is forced to exit the house and get a job. At least everyone knows that Meghan is a talented actress and can likely find a new TV series if not a hit film project that will bring her onboard. In fact, that may make a lot of sense considering the fact that she has the notoriety and fame of being married to a British royal … whether or not she can actually place the word “royal” next to her name or not.

The bottom line is that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex likely do need work, but they’re probably not as bad off as some make out.
