Will Princess Kate And King Charles Attend Easter Sunday Church Service?

British royal family news reveals that traditional holiday church services have always been significant for Britain’s royal family.

The family is almost always seen walking to church on Christmas Day, and the same goes for Easter Sunday.

But this year has been an exceptional one for the clan. King Charles was diagnosed with cancer in February, as was Princess Kate.

It’s understandable that this year the Easter Sunday royal lineup will look different, read on to find out who will be attending church services and who won’t.

Royal Family News – Who Is Going to Easter Sunday Services?

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla will be in attendance at Sunday’s Easter Mattins Service at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

This is the first major royal public event for the monarch since he made his cancer treatment statement.

But in a historic first, Camilla will stand in for Charles in the traditional Maundy Thursday service before Easter.

Last year’s Easter service was the first time the royal family observed the occasion following the death of Queen Elizabeth, and it was the first time that Prince Louis attended the service.

Royal Family News – Princess Catherine Fighting Cancer

According to Vanity Fair, the Waleses will not be in attendance on Easter Sunday. This includes Prince William, Princess Kate and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

It is thought that the close-knit family are together at Sandringham with the kids enjoying a planned month-long break from school.

Last Friday Kate dropped a pre-recorded video in which she announced that following the “planned abdominal surgery” she had in January, tests showed the presence of cancer, and she is now participating in preventative chemotherapy.

She added that her children’s well-being is priority and that “it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be okay.”

Royal Family News – Princess Catherine Will Be Home For Easter

On Friday King Charles issued a public statement of support for Catherine, noting that he is “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did.”

Vanity Fair reports that “the king calls daily to check in and make sure Catherine is doing OK.”
