He confessed that at one point in his life he’d despised who he was so much that he wished he’d been born a different person. For the soon-to-be father of two, his response to his pain was to make sure that his children were raised differently than he was, away from the “genetic pain”. This inspired his move to step down as a senior royal along with his wife Meghan Markle and move an ocean away to Montecito California, where he now calls home with his 2-year-old son Archie and his pregnant wife.
Archie Appears In Dad’s Documentary Series About Mental Health
In never-before-seen footage of the AppleTV+ series executive produced by Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey, little Archie made a cameo to support his dad’s campaign to expose the need to address mental health issues on a global scale. In the little cameo, Archie is seen enjoying a ride in a swing that’s hanging from a tree branch as Harry swings beside him.
“My father used to say to me when I was younger, ‘Well, it was like that for me, so it’s going to be like that for you,'” Harry shared in the mental health series. “That doesn’t make sense — just because you suffered, that doesn’t mean that your kids have to suffer, in fact, quite the opposite. If you suffered, do everything you can to make sure that whatever negative experiences that you had, you can make it right for your kids.”
Harry, who previously revealed that his father’s advice to the difficulties of being in the spotlight as a royal was to “play the game”, also said that he’s keen on ensuring that history never repeats itself.
Having a son was like the turning point for the Duke of Sussex, who decided to step down from his royal duties. During the Sussexes’ first Oprah interview, they revealed that Meghan Markle’s mental health had taken a toll while they remained with the firm and it had influenced their decision to leave it.
“I then had a son, who I would far rather be solely focused on, rather than every time I look in his eyes wondering whether my wife is going to end up like my mother and I’m going to have to look after him myself,” he said. “That was one of the biggest reasons to leave, feeling trapped, and feeling controlled through fear. Both by the media and by the system itself, which never encouraged the talking about this kind of trauma. Certainly, now I will never be bullied into silence.”
Prince Harry Reveals Archie’s Famous First Words
Prince Harry is raising his son to know his grandmother Princess Diana, who passed away at the age of 36 in 1997 after being involved in a car accident. Harry revealed that a picture of his late mother Diana proudly hangs in Archie’s nursery at their Montecito home.
“I got a photo of her in his nursery, and it was one of the first words that he said — apart from ‘mama,’ ‘papa,’ it was then ‘grandma.’ Grandma Diana,” he shared. “It’s the sweetest thing, but at the same time, it makes me really sad because she should be here.”
“I wish she could’ve met Meghan. I wish she was around for Archie.”
Meghan Markle also made a cameo in The Me You Can’t See AppleTV+ series, in a “Raising the Future” T-shirt. The short cameo shows her happily coming in to take a look at what Prince Harry is watching on the computer.
