Stephanie was diagnosed with aplastic anemia which is a severe bone marrow failure disorder. If she doesn’t take care of herself and take the proper precautions, then it could be fatal. 90 Day Fiancé fans wondered why Stephanie had to travel to Australia. Instead, Erika should have traveled to the US to visit her girlfriend for the first time. But, of course, this wouldn’t be a dramatic enough storyline for the reality series.
Stephanie is seen having a hard time on her trip. She carries a bag of hand sanitizer and medication. During her trip to the nature preserve, she complains about being hot. Stephanie always needs her medication on her because it’s what keeps her alive. If she catches a cold, then she would have to go to the hospital. Stephanie can’t go out and enjoy life because of it.
It’s clear that she’s overcome a lot when it comes to her health. The 29-year-old has been candid about her health problem on Before the 90 Days. During her interview with Fox News, Stephanie was aware that she was risking her life to be with Erika.
“I probably would have been much better off falling in love with somebody here, somebody local,” Stephanie said.
But she couldn’t help but fall for the 24-year-old photographer from Australia, whom she met online. Stephanie and Erika are the first same-sex couple to appear on the 90 Day Fiancé franchise. She says that she’s glad to represent the LGBTQ community in a positive light.
“We see so much of the same stuff on dating shows and on reality shows,” Stephanie continued. “It’s time to mix it up a little bit and bring in people from really all different walks of life, from all sexualities, all different genders.”
90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. ET on TLC.
