’90 Day Fiance – Happily Ever After’: Angela Screams NO To Michael Considering Wife Number Two!

TLC’ -90 Day Fiancé-Happily Ever After: Angela Deem TLC’s “90 Day Fiancé-Happily Ever After” star Angela Deem puts the kibosh on Michael Ilesanmi even considering taking wife number two in a recent episode called “Burnt Bridges and Bitter Truths”.

TLC 90 Day Fiance: A Fertile Wife Who Can Give Her Husband Children Is Crucial In Nigerian Culture

Viewers will recall from recent episodes that in Nigeria, a fertile wife who can give her husband children is crucial in Nigerian culture; and Michael has made it quite clear that he wants at least one child of his own, whether with Angela or not. Of course, that can easily be accomplished through surrogacy, and in America, that would be no problem.

But in Nigeria, Angela would have to be the surrogate to give the appearance of bearing her own child with Michael, using an egg donor, and keep the matter hush-hush and secret from Michael’s mother and perhaps his whole family in order to keep up appearances, but at her age, it may be dangerous for her to even do that. The other option in Nigeria is for Michael to take a second wife and have his children with her, since plural marriage is legal there, unlike in the United States.

But with Angela’s jealousy problems, that will never work with her, and besides, they intend to marry in Nigeria but move back to Hazlehurst, Georgia where her house and her family are. Even if she did agree for Michael’s second wife to act as a surrogate, the surrogate may want to keep the child in Nigeria!

Things Have Been Somewhat Tense Between Angela And Michael Since She Got Her Biopsy Results

Angela admits that things have been somewhat tense between her and Michael since she got her biopsy results back from her gynecologist. While her results showed no endometrial or uterine cancer, and her health was generally very good, aside from the physician nagging her to stop smoking, she did warn Angela that at her age, carrying a baby could also carry risks.

Angela has no more eggs of her own so she is fully in menopause, and pregnancy could cause preterm labor, meaning a premature baby or even worse a miscarriage, high blood pressure, meaning Angela may have to go on bed rest – pregnant women cannot take medications due to the potential harm to the fetus – or, gestational diabetes. It would definitely be a high-risk pregnancy, and Angela’s self-admitted hypochondria does not help things at all!

She tells Michael to make up his mind, which previously he told her he has to think about if he would still marry her if she is unable to bear him children – of course, that didn’t go over well with Angela either! He does try to assure her it’s not that he loves her any less, but with the pressures of his culture and his own burning desire for children of his own, he has had to think about it. She says Michael needs to “finish his bathroom business” or get off the “pot”, to put it a bit more delicately!

90 Day Fiance: Angela And Michael Meet With Michael’s Family Sans Mama While Picking Out A Wedding Cake

Angela and Michael meet with Michael’s Aunt Lydia and half-sister Bukky in a bakery which seems to be exclusively for cakes, in order to pick out a wedding cake for their wedding, which they have only one more week to plan. Michael’s mother, Iya Bieu had previously given them her blessing to marry, but that was with the understanding that Angela could give Michael children, and they had thought that Angela had an egg when she went to the Nigerian fertility specialist, but she found out it was only a fibroid tumor when she got back to the United States and her own gynecologist.

Michael tells her that now that she cannot have children of her own and even carrying what is popularly called “a test tube baby” created in vitro with Michael’s sperm and another woman’s egg would be high risk to both Angela and the baby, his mother would have to be asked for her blessing considering this new information all over again. Michael tells her his mom will not like that and not be happy, but Angela said she’d get over it!

They discuss the new information with his aunt and half-sister first, with them being okay with surrogacy – even suggesting Bukky may donate an egg, which in America would be a no-no – a half-sister of Michael’s is too close a relative to donate an egg! There is too much risk of genetic diseases being passed down which would pose even more danger to the baby. They weren’t happy with the couple considering foregoing a Nigerian style wedding for an American style one, either.

It was during the baby discussion that Angela would not approve of either a second wife or “a side chick” or concubine where Michael would make the baby with her the “old fashioned way”! Michael kept insisting they cannot go against Nigerian culture when in Nigeria, although Angela disagreed, and Aunt Lydia said his mother definitely would not be happy with Angela not being able to conceive or “tote a baby” as Angela puts it!
