The network has pulled the plug on the beloved series three times, with the most recent cancellation being revealed in March.
Fans Hope For Salvation Of The Show As Well As The Star
Fans continue to hold out hope for the show’s revival, just as it has been rescued twice in the past. CBS initially attempted to cancel S.W.A.T. in 2023 following its sixth season.
However, after facing significant backlash from fans and the show’s star, Shemar Moore, the network quickly reversed its decision and opted to renew the series for a seventh and final season.
Just when everyone believed the show was finished, CBS made a surprising announcement about bringing it back for an eighth season, which is now airing. Sadly, it appears that this current season may be the show’s last.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the show would not be getting a ninth season-however, fans are not giving up, just as they did not with the last two cancellations.
One passionate supporter started a petition urging CBS, another network, or a streaming service like Netflix to continue the series for another season.
The petition has already gathered over 70,000 signatures-will this be enough to sway CBS; the network has not reversed its decision on the third cancellation yet.
Shemar Moore led the first two campaigns to save S.W.A.T. and is now joined by others in trying to persuade CBS to renew the show for Season 8. David Lim, who portrays Officer Victor Tan, even appeared on a local TV station to advocate for the show’s continuation.

Shemar Moore continues to engage with fans on social media. However, he and David Lim are not the only cast members working to save the show.
Annie Ilonzeh joined S.W.A.T. in Season 8 as Devin Gamble, the newest team member-initially, her character struggled to fit in because her father had killed a police officer. Fortunately, the team has now fully accepted her, and the actress is determined to stay.
In an interview with Us Weekly before the Season 8 finale, Annie described the potential cancellation as a “bummer” but reassured fans that the cast is still advocating for another season.
She shared that whenever they make a big effort on their social media, people join the cause by signing and sharing, which leads to some positive responses.
Annie Pushes For A Spinoff
Even though she is new to the series, she believes it would be a significant achievement for the show to reach ten seasons-if not, she has another idea to keep S.W.A.T. alive. Shemar Moore has been advocating for S.W.A.T. for a long time and is still pushing for another season.
However, Annie Ilonzeh mentioned that if the show returns for another season and then gets canceled again, the former Young & The Restless star is ready to walk away. He expressed that he would be happy with just one more season, but Annie Ilonzeh has bigger aspirations.
She suggested the possibility of a spinoff to Us Weekly, saying, “This has come up in discussions, especially among the newcomers.
