Billy Brown, the patriarch of the Alaskan Bush People series, passed away on February 7, 2021, following a seizure. His son, Bear Brown announced his passing on Instagram. Bear honors his father annually, and this past weekend, he shared more photos on social media in tribute to his late father.
The Patriarch Was In His 60s
Billy Brown celebrated his 66th birthday with his Alaskan Bush People family in 2018. A few years later, he passed away, leaving his wife, Ami, grieving. Bear Brown often posts photos on Billy Brown’s birthday and remembers his father in February, the month of his passing.

Grief was felt by all the “wolfpack,” despite some critics claiming the Discovery show was staged. Billy Brown undeniably provided a unique lifestyle for his children, as depicted on Alaskan Bush People.

This weekend, Bear Brown used his Instagram account to share memories of Billy Brown, writing, “I miss him more than words could ever describe,” alongside several throwback photos, including one of his dad with grandson River.

Alaskan Bush People fans hold a special place in their hearts for Billy Brown, showing appreciation for the nostalgic images shared by Bear Brown. Fans also loved Billy, and they remember him with affection. Naturally, lots of wanted to let the family know that they also missed the older man.

Many Alaskan Bush People fans were concerned that Ami would pass before Billy Brown, especially with her battle with stage 4 cancer which led to the family’s move from Alaska. Billy Brown’s smoking was a known concern among fans, potentially contributing to his health issues. He was with Ami when he passed.
