About the show

Younger fans might not know that the CBS series SWAT was a reboot of a TV series from the 1970s. It was also based on a 2003 movie, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell.

The new version is developed by Shawn Ryan and Aaron Rahsaan Thomas and focuses on Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson (Moore), a former marine and Los Angeles native who suddenly gets promoted to team leader of the Special Weapons and Tactics unit of the LA Police Department.

His promotion came amid tensions in the community after the accidental shooting of an unarmed Black teenager.
