CBS Reveals Huge Shakeup
A major shakeup is taking place at CBS. The first took place on The NFL Today show. The show’s hosts Boomer Esiason and Phil Simms announced they won’t return in Fall 2024.
Both of them are moving on to different ventures. Boomer was the first to announce his departure. He broke the news on his morning radio show, Boomer and Gio.
“For the last two months, you know, I’ve been trying to figure out what I wanted to do and where I want to be. I am stepping away from The NFL Today on CBS, more their decision than maybe mine, but I really thought that the Super Bowl was my swan song,” Boomer said.
He will continue his radio show. Awful Announcing confirmed that he extended his contract with the WFAN show. Fans can catch up with him on Boomer and Gio. Phil Simms’ announced his departure as well.
On Monday, April 29, he addressed his exit from The NFL Today. “Great 26-year run with CBS SPORTS. Even though that part of my career is over I look forward to what is next,” he posted on X.
He hasn’t shared what’s next in his career. Matty Ryan will replace one of the two analysts in the Fall 2024 season. He retired from his career as a quarterback in April. Matt Ryan will join the panel that includes Bill Cowher, James Brown, JJ Watt, and Nate Burleson.
The FBI Franchise Takes Unexpected Break
The other shakeup at CBS primetime has fans mad. Another popular series is taking a break.
Thursday is going through a primetime shakeup. FBI, FBI: International, and FBI: Most Wanted were repeated on Tuesday night.
They’re all expected to return on May 7, as previously reported. CBS announced all three dramas will have their season finales on May 21. Fans were upset there haven’t been any new episodes. Other fans are irate that all three shows are ending soon.
In the meantime, FBI fans speculated whether the franchise will have a cast shakeup. Some of the original characters may depart from the series. Missy Peregrym may be leaving the FBI show after new clues were revealed in Episode 10.
