Chicago Fire viewers have turned Jesse Spencer into a fan favorite. Season after season, Spencer made his character of Matthew Casey into a believable, riveting firefighter role. But after 10 seasons, the actor bid farewell to his last episode as a series regular.

Chicago Fire Season 10 Spoilers – Could Jesse Spencer Return To Chicago Fire?
Although Jesse Spencer emphasized he left his role to spend more time with his family, the actor left the firehouse door open as to his future return, per One Chicago. Spencer shared that he would take on a cameo appearance or even a guest star role on Chicago Fire. In addition to Jesse’s comments, the firefighter drama’s showrunner offered some clues.
Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas served up a spoiler about the romance between Spencer’s Captain Matt Casey and Kara Killmer’s paramedic Sylvie Brett. Revealing that Brett will visit Casey during subsequent episodes of season 10, the Chicago Fire boss also hinted at whether Jesse will appear on screen.
“She’s definitely gonna go see him at some point in the second half of the season,” promised Haas. “We don’t have all of those i’s dotted and t’s crossed yet, but she’s gonna go see him. And then hopefully, if everything breaks my way, we can get Jesse to come back and at least do an episode or two towards the end of the season, so that would be nice.”

And the Chicago Fire boss emphasized just how much he longs for Spencer’s return. “I never try to predict what’s going to happen production-wise, but we’re in the camp of whenever Jesse wants to come do an episode with us, we will move mountains and earth to make that happen,” confessed Haas. “So we’ve been talking, we’ve been talking, we’ve got some ideas of what that would be.”
As a result, it looks hopeful for fans of Jesse Spencer to see him return to Chicago Fire in the near future. And Chicago Fire fans in general don’t need to stress about the show’s possible cancellation. The firefighter drama, produced by Dick Wolf, will return in 2022 on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 9/8c on NBC.
