It looks like a new personality will be part of the storyline when Chicago Fire season 14 returns in the upcoming year!

On December 3, Dermot Mulroney (Dominick Pascal) shared a behind-the-scenes image from season 14 on his Instagram Stories. In this image, Mulroney is seen with several co-stars from Chicago Fire, including Miranda Rae Mayo (Stella Kidd), Joe Minoso (Joe Cruz), Hanako Greensmith (Violet Mikami), and David Eigenberg (Christopher Hermann). However, the new face in the photo caught the attention of One Chicago Center.

Actor Max Martini, recognized for his roles in The Unit and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, is also featured, wearing a Chicago Fire Department jacket designated for a Deputy District Chief. While no additional details are given, it appears that Martini will be joining the cast when season 14 returns in the new year to portray a new Deputy District Chief within the CFD.

It’s Unclear At This Time Whether Martini Will Appear In A Guest Or Recurring Role

Details about Martini’s character, including his name and storyline, are still unclear as NBC hasn’t confirmed if it’s a guest role or a recurring one for the season. We also don’t know when we’ll see this new Deputy District Chief, but he’s likely to appear soon after season 14 starts again on January 7, 2026.

With all the changes in the CFD this season, Martini’s character might become an ally to Mulroney’s Battalion Chief Dom Pascal. Pascal may seek Martini’s help to combat budget cuts affecting Engine 51. He could definitely use more allies in the CFD, and this new Deputy District Chief could provide that support.

Martini’s Character Could Be Either A Foe Or A Friend

Obviously, the Deputy District Chief could turn out to be more of an adversary than an ally. This wouldn’t be the first instance where an authority figure has come into play and caused trouble for 51. Pascal has been getting along nicely with the mayor’s chief of staff, Annette Davis (Annabeth Gish).

So it’s possible that this new Deputy District Chief will arrive just in time to stir things up and create issues for Pascal and 51. Fans will need to stay tuned to see if this new Deputy District Chief will be a friend or an enemy and watch for his arrival when Chicago Fire season 14 returns on January 7!
