Disney+ Subscribers Watch More Content Than Netflix Viewers

Disney+ is not only popular, but it’s also more engaging with its subscribers. According to a new report, more users spend time watching content on Disney+ than on similar services such as Netflix. This means that Disney+ subscribers seem to watch more movies and television shows than any other streaming platform. The new streaming service dropped on Nov. 12 with an incredible collection of older and newer Disney content. It also includes content from Marvel, National Geographic, Pixar, and the Star Wars franchise.

There’s also a slew of new television shows and movies on the streaming platform. The most popular is The Mandalorian, which has become a hit thanks in part to Baby Yoda. In addition to the launch, there have been regular announcements for new originals and exclusives, including Marvel’s WandaVision. Of course, Disney+ hasn’t been without its share of criticism. Chadwick Boseman stated that he doesn’t want to do a Disney+ Black Panther series while John Boyega also displayed disinterest in reprising his role of Finn in a Star Wars production on the streaming service.

The backlash hasn’t stopped Disney+ from running out of steam. According to Variety, Disney+ is at the top spot on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Apptopia provided the data on the company’s launch, and it looks pretty good. Despite its rivals like Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, Disney+ users spend 5.8% longer watching content than Netflix viewers. This report comes after Disney+ became the largest trending topic of 2019.

It joins a long list of popular keywords, such as Antonio Brown, Avengers: Endgame, Cameron Boyce, Game of Thrones, Hurricane Dorian, iPhone 11, Jussie Smollet, Luke Perry and Nipsey Hussle. Game of Thrones became the most popular U.S. television show of 2019. It’s been followed by Disney Plus’s The Mandalorian, HBO’s Chernobyl, Netflix’s Stranger Things and When They See Us. This data also proves that Disney+ is growing quickly and has no intentions of slowing down anytime soon.

The entertainment giant started with a $500 million budget for additional content and future theatrical releases that are scheduled to arrive to Disney+ instead of their competitors. This amount of money could increase, with rumors suggesting that MCU exclusives could add $100 million budget per show. There are also old favorites being revived such as the Home Alone reboot that’s already received mixed reaction by fans.
