An Internal Affairs reboot is currently in the works at Paramount. The new series is said to be a revival of the 1990 crime movie of the same name. The original starred Andy Garcia and Richard Gere and was about an Internal Affairs agent who was obsessed with getting back at a cop with a squeaky-clean track record despite being involved in some shady crimes. The movie also starred Laurie Metcalf, Michael Beach, and William Baldwin.

According to a report via the Hollywood Reporter, Todd Garner will be the producer. Garner previously worked with Paramount Studios on the family movie Playing With Fire, which was produced under his Broken Road Productions company. Paramount is also currently working on a reboot of the 1997 action thriller Face/Off with writer Oren Uziel who previously worked on 22 Jump Street. Uziel is expected to provide the script for the new series while Neal Moritz will produce it.

The recent news on an Internal Affairs reboot comes on the heels on several revivals and reboots that are in the works. The CW is currently working on a Dark Shadows and Gossip Girl reboot. Disney+ has launched on Nov. 12 and now the entertainment company is working on bringing back some of its classic shows and movies, including Hocus Pocus, Lizzie McGuire, and The Mighty Ducks. The folks over at HBO Max are currently in talks with the original cast of Friends to release their own unscripted revival.

Fans are also waiting impatiently to hear about the update on the rumored Pretty Woman and An Officer & a Gentleman reboots. It seems like a lot of movies that Richard Gere has starred in are getting their own revivals. In the crime drama, Gere took on the role of a gritty cop who had his own partner killed. The performances in this film were incredible. It became one of the most critically acclaimed dramas of the 90s.

While Internal Affairs was released the same year as Pretty Woman, it didn’t make as much as Gere’s classic romantic comedy. Paramount is currently rummaging through other classic movies in the meantime. They’re also planning an Indecent Proposal reboot and have tossed around the idea of a Clueless remake. Only time will tell if any of these reboots will come to life. What are your thoughts on an Internal Affairs TV series? Share your thoughts below in the comments section.
