Joy Behar Dares President Trump To Appear On ‘The View’

When Barbara Walters first launched The View back in 1997, the big idea was simple: put multiple political perspectives at the same table and let America watch the sparks, the laughter, and the honest disagreements.
Over the years, though, the balance shifted. By early this year, the show was taking heat for opening its doors almost exclusively to liberal or Democratic guests — something critics said contradicted the show’s original DNA.
That criticism got loud enough to push The View into course-correction mode. And today, the show that was once accused of shutting out conservatives has not only widened its guest list, but has quietly stepped into the center of a political storm involving one of its fiercest critics — former President Donald Trump. And somehow, in the middle of all the chaos, Joy Behar decided to offer him an invite.
A New Season, A Different Lineup
A Fox News poll earlier this year claimed the show had featured more than 100 liberal or Democratic guests — and not a single Republican. So when Season 29 launched in September, viewers were greeted with a noticeably different vibe.
The producers began spotlighting conservative voices, from actress Cheryl Hines — married to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — to sitting politicians. Then came a headline-stealing appearance in early November: Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Once one of President Trump’s staunchest allies, Greene has recently taken a public stand against some of his foreign-policy positions. She’s also been vocal about Congress’ sluggish handling of the long-discussed Epstein files. Her sit-down with the hosts was surprisingly cordial, but the calm didn’t last long.
Trump took to Truth Social with a scathing reaction, writing:
“Lightweight Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Brown (Green grass turns brown when it begins to ROT!), betrayed the entire Republican Party when she turned Left, performed poorly on the pathetic View, and became the RINO that we all know she always was.”
The fallout didn’t end with an online rant. Greene later announced she would step down from representing Georgia’s 14th District, effective January 2026 — a move that sent shockwaves through Washington and quickly made its way back to The View’s table.
The Hosts Respond — And Call Out a Double Standard
On Monday’s episode, the panel reacted to Greene’s sudden resignation, each host taking a different angle. Alyssa Farah Griffin, who once worked in Trump’s administration, didn’t mince words.
“I have mixed feelings about this because, as a voting member of Congress… you do have some power in it. And it feels like she’s bowing out of the fight too quickly,” she said.
There was also the growing speculation that Trump withdrew his support as punishment for Greene’s appearance on the show.
That narrative prompted Ana Navarro — a lifelong Republican who has long opposed Trump — to point out a bit of irony. She reminded viewers that Trump’s own family has not only appeared on The View multiple times, but has co-hosted episodes.
She laid it out plainly:
“I’d like to take this moment to remind Trump that his daughter Ivanka has been on six times, Melania has been on four times… Ivana Trump was on two times, Donald Trump Jr. has been on… even Marla Maples has been on, you know, the second ex.”
And then the jab that immediately went viral:
“So if being on ‘The View’ is such a bad thing, maybe he should start by saying it to his family over Thanksgiving.”
Joy Behar’s Olive Branch — And What It Could Mean
Joy Behar has never been shy about her criticism of the former president, which made her next move particularly surprising. After watching the drama unfold, she extended an open invitation to Trump to join the panel and talk about Greene’s resignation face-to-face.
Fox News reached out to the White House for comment but, as of now, there’s no response. Still, given Trump’s track record, few people expect him to leave an invitation like this unanswered.
Only a week ago, the idea of Trump sitting across from the hosts of The View would’ve seemed impossible. But politics has a way of shifting fast.
After all, this is the same president who recently welcomed New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani to the Oval Office — just days after threatening to deport him.
Whether Trump actually takes the seat Joy Behar offered is yet to be seen. But one thing is certain: The View has reinserted itself into the center of America’s political conversation — and the next guest to walk onto that stage may be the most unexpected one yet.
