NCIS: New Orleans Vet Joins Cast Of The Good Fight Season 5

NCIS New Orleans The Good Fight spoilers and updates tease that NCIS: New Orleans vet CCH Pounder will join the show’s fifth season. The actress will play the role of Vinetta, a Chicago native who hopes to bring justice back to her crime-ridden neighborhood.

Fans may recall that Pounder has been with the NCIS: New Orleans for seven seasons as Dr. Loretta Wade. Her other acting credits include The Shield, Law & Order: SVU, ER, Sons of Anarchy, and The X-Files.

NCIS: New Orleans News – Series Creators Weigh In On Pounder’s Casting

In an interview with TVLine, series creators Robert and Michelle King said they’ve always wanted to work with CCH Pounder for years. They’re both thrilled that she’s bringing her acting prowess to the series by playing the new character.

Pounder’s casting came on the heels of two major departures from The Good Fight. Cush Jumbo, who played Lucca Quinn, and Delroy Lindo who portrayed Adrian Boseman, exited the series during the season 5 premiere. The actress is only one of the many new faces this season including Charmaine Bingwa, Mandy Patinkin, and Wayne Brady.

Wanda Sykes was also tapped for a recurring role in the fifth season. She’ll portray Allegra Durado, a smart and strategic attorney who’s been away from the law for a decade. Robert and Michelle King said they’re fortunate to get a chance to work with Sykes. They described her as one of those dramatic actors who can also deliver the comedy, an infusion which The Good Fight has successfully pulled off.

NCIS: New Orleans News – Season 5’s Opening Episode

The Good Fight Season 5 premiere episode covered a lot of ground. It tackled the major events over the past 15 months including the coronavirus pandemic, George Floyd and the protests, and the departure of two major characters. Even though Robert and Michelle only had one episode for Lucca and Adrian’s departure, they were able to give both characters a satisfying exit.

Robert and Michelle revealed that the first episode of season 5 was all fresh material. However, they admitted that they had to pull a lot from the scrapped last three episodes of season 4. But they kept on writing drafts and eventually used less and less from the previous materials. They ended up imitating the feel of recapping for the opening episode.
